The charity making life better by water

Canal Town and Chocolate Day

Starts: 7 July 2024

Ends: 7 July 2024

10:00 am - 04:00 pm

National Waterways Museum South Pier Road Ellesmere Port Cheshire CH65 4FW

Step back in time at our special ‘Living Museum’ event and experience what it was like to live and work in the docks when Ellesmere Port was a canal town.

Enjoy a tour of our stunning 7-acre site with one of our costumed guides, stop off and watch one of the lock or Power Hall engine demos that will be taking place throughout the day.

On this day, in recognition of National Chocolate Day ... our ‘Canal Town’ event will be celebrating all things chocolate ... but most of all Mendip; the traditional narrowboat that Charlie ‘Chocolate’ Atkins used to transport chocolate crumb between the Cadbury factories at Knighton and Bournville. See Mendip in all her glory on display at the museum today!

Enjoy a talk about this classic narrowboat before indulging in a chocolate hunt, chocolate crumb tasting and sampling our chocolate dips (chocolate candyfloss will also be available).
