The charity making life better by water

Winter moorings

We offer temporary moorings between November and February at selected locations around the network for those without a permanent mooring.

Snow covered countryside and houses surround a narrowboat, snowy towpath, and iced-over canal

Winter moorings give boaters who don't already have a permanent mooring a chance to moor up for the winter months, while keeping enough space clear for those who want to continue cruising.

Winter moorings for 2026/27 will be available for up to four months from Sunday 1 November 2026 until Sunday 28 February 2027. Permits will be on sale from Thursday 1 October at 8am on a first come, first served basis.

More information and the list of winter mooring sites will be available in early September.
