Virtual water safety workshops

Our water safety workshops can now be experienced through virtual learning. We’re offering primary schools the chance to book FREE interactive virtual workshops delivering information, advice and engaging activities to develop children’s knowledge of water safety.

The presentation was very clear and we enjoyed the interactive parts of it with the thumbs up and thumbs down. It really engaged children in water safety!

Tyndale Primary School, South Gloucestershire

Children will learn how to spot the dangers around canals and rivers, our SAFE message and how to help in an emergency. Each child taking part will also receive a printed water safety booklet.

Virtual water safety workshops will run each year from January – March. There’s a 30 minute workshop for KS1 and a 1 hour workshop for KS2 pupils. Both can be tailored around your timetable and multiple workshops can be booked per school. Only one class per workshop.

What happens in a virtual water safety workshop?

Before the workshop you will be sent a teachers information pack with confirmation of your booking, a breakdown of activities in the workshop, our digital safeguarding policy and any relevant pre or post workshop activities for your class. Each water safety workshop is delivered by staff or volunteers from the Canal & River Trust Learning & Skills team. At the end of the workshop you will be directed to post visit resources and asked to complete a short evaluation survey.
