To start your paddle cross the bridge and launch at the other end of the lock pointing in a southerly direction. This route will take you through the outskirts of Durston before arriving in Creech St Michael where you can stop for a rest and explore the town's many facilities.
To return simply turn your boat around and paddle back with a completely different view.
